Ryanair wants you to stand
Michael O Leary, the CEO of the Irish no frills Airline Ryanair has yet again hit the headlines with his latest proposal – to make passengers stand during flights. It has been revealed that Ryanair has consulted with Boeing about the feasibility of designing aircraft with standing room. Chinese Airline Spring had initially expressed their willingness to introduce this cost cutting initiative and it’s reported that Mr. O Leary was inspired by their concept.
Passengers flying to Ireland shouldn’t worry too much as Mr. O Leary is famed for these “publicity stunts”.
On a recent interview with the BBC, Mr. O’Leary proposed charging passengers £1 to use the toilets by installing a coin slot machine. Previous to this, he is also on record as saying he would like to introduce an additional tax for overweight passengers, an aptly named “fat tax”.
